The short answer

Yes. You can start a bespoke gown by video consultation: discuss the occasion, share inspiration, see fabric samples on camera and take guided measurements at home. Most gowns still need at least one fitting in person, ideally the toile fitting, so the pattern can be checked on your body.

Who is a video consultation for?

Clients outside Dubai, busy brides, families planning from abroad, and anyone who wants to start before they can visit. Almost everyone in the UAE is online: 99.0 per cent of the population was online at the start of 2025, about 11.1 million people [source]. A video call is a practical way to begin designing while you plan the trip.

What happens on the call?

  1. We talk about the occasion, the date, venue and dress code.
  2. You share inspiration images and anything you already own: jewellery, a veil, shoes.
  3. We show fabric and embroidery samples on camera, in daylight.
  4. We sketch ideas and agree a direction.
  5. We guide you through your measurements, or arrange for them to be taken.

How are measurements taken remotely?

With a soft tape, a helper and a guided list. We follow the body landmarks used in the international standard for clothing measurement, ISO 8559-1 {{cite:iso8559}}, so each measurement means the same thing every time. Our measurement guide explains each one. Remote measurements are a starting point; the toile fitting confirms them.

Can the whole gown be made without visiting?

For simpler made-to-measure evening wear, sometimes. For a bespoke bridal gown, we recommend at least one in-person fitting, ideally the toile, and preferably a final fitting too. Fabric drapes differently on a body than on screen, and small fit corrections are much easier with the gown on.

How do you get the most out of the call?

Use a laptop or tablet rather than a phone, sit near a window for daylight, and have your inspiration images in one folder. Wear fitted clothing if you plan to take measurements. Bring anyone whose opinion matters, such as your mother or sister, so decisions are made together.

Visitors from abroad often combine fittings with a stay: Dubai recorded 19.59 million international overnight visitors in 2025 [source].

What should you prepare before the call?

Your wedding date and venue, a folder of five to ten inspiration images, photographs of any jewellery or veil you already have, and your budget range. If you will take measurements during the call, have a soft tape and a helper ready, and read our measurement guide first. Clients outside the UAE should also note their travel windows for fittings.

How are fabrics and embroidery approved remotely?

We show swatches on camera in daylight, send close-up photographs and short videos, and post physical samples when colour accuracy matters. Embroidery is approved as a drawing, then as a sample on the real fabric. Nothing is cut until you approve it.

How long does a video consultation take?

Usually 45 to 60 minutes for the first call, including measurements. Follow-up calls to approve fabrics or embroidery are shorter, usually 15 to 30 minutes. We send a written summary after each call, so decisions are recorded and nothing is lost between the video consultation and your first visit to the atelier.

Frequently asked questions

Is a video consultation free?

Ask when you book. Many ateliers treat the first call as a design consultation, with the quotation sent afterwards.

Which apps do you use for video consultations?

WhatsApp video works well. We can also arrange other platforms on request.

Can I see fabric colours accurately on video?

Reasonably, in daylight. For exact shades we can send samples or show them at your first visit.

Can I do a video consultation from outside the UAE?

Yes. Many clients start from abroad and plan their fittings around a visit.

Do I need to buy fabric before the call?

No. We show you samples and source the fabric once the design is agreed.
