The short answer
Start a bespoke wedding dress six to nine months before the wedding. That leaves time for design, fabric sourcing, a toile fitting, two or three fabric fittings and hand embroidery. For several looks or heavy embroidery, start nine months ahead. Evening and guest gowns usually need eight to twelve weeks.
What does a bespoke bridal timeline look like?
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| 9–7 months before | Consultation, sketches, fabric and embroidery samples |
| 7–5 months | Pattern drafting and toile fitting |
| 5–2 months | Cutting, hand embroidery, first fabric fittings |
| 6–2 weeks | Final fittings with shoes and jewellery |
| Final week | Pressing and collection |

Why does the UAE wedding season fill up early?
Demand is high and concentrated. The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court received nearly 15,000 civil marriage applications between January and September 2025, around 77 a day [source]. Many celebrations cluster in the cooler months, after summers like 2025, when the National Center of Meteorology logged 51.8°C [source]. Ateliers fill their calendars accordingly.
Tourism continues to be a key driver of economic diversification.
What if you have several ceremonies?
A milcha, henna night and wedding night can mean three looks, each with fittings. Add one to two months, and finalise the main gown first. Emirati families may also be planning around government support: eligible couples can receive a marriage grant of AED 70,000 [source], and the Ministry of Family allocated Dh209 million for around 3,000 grants in 2026 [source].
Can a bespoke wedding dress be made faster?
Sometimes, with trade-offs: lighter embroidery, fabric already in the atelier, and a tighter fitting schedule. Message us your date and we will be honest about what is achievable without compromising fit.
When should guests and family order?
Eight to twelve weeks ahead for evening gowns. Earlier is wiser in the busy season: Dubai hotel occupancy averaged 80.7% in 2025 [source].
What can slow a gown down?
The most common delays are late design changes after the toile, fabric that must be ordered from abroad, and missed fittings. Agree the design fully before embroidery starts, order special fabric at the consultation, and book all fittings at the start.
What should you decide before the first consultation?
Your wedding date and venues, the number of looks, your must-have details (sleeves, neckline, veil length), and a few photographs of styles you love and dislike. You do not need a finished idea; that is what the consultation is for.
How do Ramadan and summer travel affect the timeline?
Many families travel in summer, and workshops slow down during Ramadan. If your wedding falls soon after either, start a month earlier and book fittings before you travel. Video check-ins can cover the middle stages, but the toile and final fittings should be in person.
What happens if the wedding date moves?
Tell us as soon as you know. If the date moves later, we pause the work and keep your gown safe; a final fitting is added close to the new date. If it moves earlier, we review what can be done in the time and agree any changes in writing.
What does each stage involve for you?
The consultation takes about an hour and a half. Design approval is usually done by WhatsApp with sketches and fabric photos. The toile fitting takes about an hour, fabric fittings 45 minutes each, and the final fitting up to an hour with your shoes and jewellery. Collection takes 30 minutes, including advice on wearing and storing the gown.
How many people should come to fittings?
Bring one or two people whose opinion you trust, usually your mother or a sister. Large groups make decisions harder. For the final fitting, bring whoever will help you dress on the day, so they can learn the fastenings and how to bustle the train.
Frequently asked questions
Is six months enough for a bespoke wedding dress?
Usually yes for one gown with moderate embroidery. For heavy hand embroidery or several looks, nine months is safer.
When should the final fitting be?
Two to three weeks before the wedding, wearing your shoes, undergarments and jewellery.
What if my body changes before the wedding?
We fit the gown to you at each fitting and leave seam allowances so small changes can be adjusted.
